Burton / Mark Ward BBQ

In celebration of the Mark Ward's designs in the Spring/Summer collection and the A/W 10 Blunt, Canoe decided to make the most of having Mark on our doorstep here in London. As a good friend of Canoe, Mark did not hesitate when given the opportunity to come down and throw one of his unique designs up in the showroom. He did a great job, so great we thought we'd show it off. Friends in the media were invited down to check out the wall, the new Burton gear and have a good chat over a couple of brews and burgers.

Burton’s Red, White and Brews Party Blowout

1,320 cans of PBR, 10 cases of Americana Vodka, hula hoops, corn hole, balloons and a swing set were all on hand at last night’s Americana-themed Burton party in SoHo. Hundreds of guests celebrated Burton’s annual NYC showroom, which debuted the 2010 product line for top journalists. Media from Sports Illustrated, Allure, O Magazine, The Fader, XXL, NY Times, Vanity Fair, Vice Magazine, Seventeen and Spin, in addition to musicians, designers, artists, DJs and even Jake Burton himself were all there to enjoy some good old fashioned American fun.

Burton’s 10,000 sq ft SoHo showroom loft, bathed in red light and filled with red, white and blue helium balloons, showcased key products from Burton’s 2010 outerwear, boot and binding lines. Mannequins displaying next season’s outerwear were repeatedly molested throughout the night in the name of comical photo ops. Corn hole, a Midwest version of horseshoes that uses beanbags, tested the talents of partygoers, while others competed against one another to hold aloft a hula hoop longer. A random swing set in a dimly lit corner provided seating and whimsy.

The booze was flowing and the beats, courtesy of DJ Brooklyn Dawn, motivated the crowd to get moving and throw down impromptu dance-offs. In keeping with the theme, the food from Mary Giuliani Catering was American-inspired and featured eats like mini burgers, fried chicken, ribs and apple pie. AMP energy kept the crowd awake and partying into the wee hours until the well ran dry and the music died down.

If you weren’t there, you missed out. But don’t worry, there’s always next year…

ITALIAN PRESS DAY_ April 29th 2009

This year Sport Agency organized Burton's press day on April 29th, in a special location.
Due to the particular period, the Design Week of Milan, we decided to set up with the brand new FW10 collection a showroom of luxury forniture in the very center of the city, called Galli Orizzonti.

Many journalists and stylists of mainstream and vertical media (Elle, Donna Moderna, Sequence, Gazzetta dello Sport, Sport&Street, Girland, Outside, Rolling Stone,Vogue..) showed up.
They really appreciated both the main collection, which was set up like if the showroom was a typical rider’s room, and the special project/lines (ie. GMP, idiom), which were dedicated special corners.

Food and beverage were served all day long in the Fashion Cafe' next door.

Have a look at some pictures!

Ciao to everybody :)

Last Call with Carson Daly films 13 segments at Burton L.A. Flagship Store

NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly" stopped by the Burton/Channel Islands LA Flagship store this month to film some clips for the show with Carson. "Last Call" is shot in a documentary-style format out in the streets instead of the traditional talk show in-studio set-up. The Burton/Channel Islands store was featured in 2 nights of shows for a total of 13 different segments! When you check them out, keep in mind that they seem redundant when you watch them back-to-back like this, but they looked really good when spread out throughout the entire show for 2 nights! Enjoy!
