DJ Z-Trip a Burton Fan for Life

It turns out that a little care goes a long way. After picking up some gear at the LA store this winter, the world-famous DJ Z-Trip was treated to some one-on-one Burton guidance and it's made him a fan for life. He's even planning on heading to South America to chase winter after the last patches melt in the US next month. For the extended interview and Burton kudos click here for the full story featured on Snowboardcanada.com.
Fresh Tracks

It's no surprise that Animal Collective's 'My Girls'sat perched atop KCRW's best of list for weeks on end and was the obvious choice for Jake Johnson's part in Alien Workshop's most recent visual offering, Mind Field. Next week the band embark on a lengthy tour to promote their latest album Merriweather Post Pavillion with Burton Wheelie Flight Decks in tow.

Last Call with Carson Daly films 13 segments at Burton L.A. Flagship Store
NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly" stopped by the Burton/Channel Islands LA Flagship store this month to film some clips for the show with Carson. "Last Call" is shot in a documentary-style format out in the streets instead of the traditional talk show in-studio set-up. The Burton/Channel Islands store was featured in 2 nights of shows for a total of 13 different segments! When you check them out, keep in mind that they seem redundant when you watch them back-to-back like this, but they looked really good when spread out throughout the entire show for 2 nights! Enjoy!

Burton Global Open Series Announces 2009/2010 Competition Dates
The Burton Global Open Series announced dates for its 2009/2010 international snowboard competition series, which will kick off in New Zealand this summer. Below are dates and locations for all 2009/2010 Burton Global Open Series events.
New Zealand Open August 11-15, 2009 Cardrona Alpine Resort, New Zealand
European Open January 9-16, 2010 Laax, Switzerland
Canadian Open February 2-7, 2010 Canada Olympic Park, Calgary, Alberta
Asian Open March 2-7, 2010 ALTS Bandai, Japan
US Open March 16-21, 2010 Stratton Mountain Resort, USA
Instead of having two events down under in 2009, Burton has decided to combine the Australian Open and the New Zealand Open into one premier Southern Hemisphere event taking place in New Zealand.
“Heading into a busy Olympic year, we’ve decided to reduce the number of events to free up some room in the global events calendar,” said Liam Griffin, Global Events Director for Burton. “We’re totally committed to the riders who support the series, and are trying to make it easier for everybody to hit all the different events they need to this coming season.”
With events scheduled year-round and in five countries, the Burton Global Open Series boasts the most lucrative cumulative prize purse in snowboarding. All five Burton Global Open Series events offer riders the chance to earn points towards male and female championship titles, which are awarded at the US Open in Stratton, Vermont.
The Burton Global Open Series is also part of the Swatch Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour, the largest group of independent freestyle snowboard events in the world. The Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour Champions are crowned at the end of the season.

Chill Italy Recap
CHILL ITALIANO RECAP
After the positive experience of the second Austrian Chill program Burton Italy organised their first Italian Chill project. They teamed up with “Arche”, a non-profit organisation that provides housing and medical help for children and their families suffering from HIV, mental illnesses and social troubles. 20 kids from Arche had the chance to learn snowboarding on three consecutive Sundays in March and April.
To start with, Burton Italy had to fight some initial difficulties like finding the right resort and partners and overcoming doubts from the agency. In the end Espace de Pila, Scuola di sci di Pila, and the Resort of Pila helped bringing the kids to the mountain.
The Chill project taught the kids not only the basics of snowboarding: Getting away from the everyday was a challenge for them and the volunteers, but it proved to be positive for them to meet new friends, gain some valuable skills and first and foremost have a lot of fun
To provide for the necessary privacy, media coverage was limited to one daily newspaper (Corriere della Sera) as well as the Italian Snowboard Mag.
See attached images to get an idea what the days on the mountain were like. Big ups to Burton Italy and Silvia from Corenetwork for helping the kids make positive experiences they will never forget.
